The art program to NACS offers a comprehensive art experience to all our students. Elementary students have a weekly class in which they are introduced to the elements and principals of art in a vivid and exciting way. They learn art concepts and ideas, are exposed to a wide variety of media, and focus mainly on art production that will be sent home to parents. As they draw, paint, cut, glue and sculpt, they are reminded who the first Artist is, who created the world and mankind in His image—complete with creativity just like our maker.

Upper school students can choose to take the elective courses of Art I and Art II which meet several times a week allowing for a much more extensive study of Line, Shape, Color, Value and Texture – the elements of art. They also experience a deeper understanding of the concepts begun in the elementary classes and participate in more complicated and advanced techniques and projects. Portraits, color theory, contour line drawing, painting, designing, and sculpting, give them a chance to demonstrate their knowledge of the mechanics and theory of art.
